The Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Meeting With defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer was instrumental for the Astros winning the World Series in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their initial Fall Classic following 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the final Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.

Trailing by two runs, the star outfielder delivered a three-run homer in the seventh frame, propelling the Toronto squad in MLB to a four games to three triumph in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the forthcoming championship.

"I'm thrilled for our team, Toronto, our country," Springer stated, a star of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "What an amazing experience."

The veteran has now slugged twenty-three October home runs, making him third all-time trailing only Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of anyone else anywhere that I'd choose in that spot besides Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

The Mariners, despite leading the early in the series, remain the sole team that has never reached in a championship series.

Wilson stated "certainly that it's painful" following his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but praised their performance this season.

"They're an exceptional squad. Sadly that we had to come out on the wrong side of this game," he added.

The Blue Jays secured the World Series on both previous visits in the early 90s, and are set to host the Dodgers in the opener on Friday.
