The former Liverpool manager states a return to lead Liverpool is conceivable.

Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Liverpool in 2024, indicated that returning someday remains something that could happen. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure which brought continental glory and the Premier League crown for three decades, has since taken on positions as head of global soccer with the Red Bull group and as an advisor to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

The club claimed the Premier League in the previous campaign, yet numerous supporters holding him in high esteem would be thrilled by the possibility that he may eventually return. In a wide-ranging interview, he shared with Steven Bartlett: “I said I won't manage a different club on English soil. Therefore if then it’s Liverpool...yeah. It's plausible.”

“Being 58, so I could make the decision in a few years, who knows. Must I choose now? In that case, I'd stay away. But thank God, it's not necessary. I'll simply watch what lies ahead.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Questioned regarding what circumstances must arise to tempt his return to the dugout, he revealed he isn't eager for a comeback. “I'm not entirely sure, My present work fulfills me,” he commented. “No longing for management; No desire to be during downpours through long matches; I'm glad to skip media briefings multiple times weekly or having 10-12 interviews a week.

“No nostalgia for the changing area as a dressing room, yet sharing a meal alongside the squad talking freely, I appreciate that. With many victories so there was often great spirits at the club. I can still hear the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears for example.”

Commending Arne Slot

He commended regarding Arne Slot, acknowledging his role for the tweaks that took the title in the previous season. The team has suffered a string of losses in every contest post heavy investment, but he rubbished the notion that it might signal a slump.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. An outstanding player. Ekitike, superb talent. This is a well-built balanced team. Fans shouldn't fret about Liverpool, things will improve.”

Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota

Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of the Portuguese star, a player he signed in 2020, and its impact on Liverpool. The forward died tragically in a car crash together with his sibling in July.

“Who can fill the void of a person like him? It goes beyond his footballing ability, his personality mattered. It's hard to picture the team environment without him in it. I find it difficult to discuss regarding this. A devastating blow for his teammates as well. Not a single person might employ it to justify results though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room where his spirit remains. Dealing with that individually is difficult. Impossible.”
