Vince Zampella, a Gaming Pioneer, Has Died in a California Vehicle Accident

Vince Zampella, the mind behind the wildly popular first-person shooter Call of Duty, has passed away in a car accident in California he was 55 years old.

His passing was announced by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, the video game company he co-founded.

The renowned game designer lost his life when his vehicle was involved in a crash and was engulfed in flames on a highway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday morning, US media outlets report.

"This represents an unimaginable loss, and our hearts are with Vince's loved ones, his loved ones, and the countless individuals inspired by his work," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts stated.
