Both have been linked with the manager's job at the Scottish champions following the former manager's departure on Monday.

McKenna's Stance on Celtic

McKenna described Celtic as "a really big soccer institution" but stressed he is "deeply involved" of a "extensive rebuilding" with the Championship side.

The 39-year-old assumed control of Ipswich in recent years and led them to the Premier League with consecutive elevations, but they managed only four games last campaign as they were relegated back to the second division and they currently sit 12th in the Championship.

"There have been such conversations," the London-born former Northern Ireland young player said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"This isn't a matter I have considered seriously, or where any part of my concentration is currently.

"I possess a special job here at a special club. And we're at a really important stage of the season. Anything external hasn't touched my awareness."

Context and Contractual Details

Reports indicate that the manager would be open to speaking to Celtic given his boyhood allegiances.

"Growing up, we all have our preferences," he said when questioned about those. "It's unlikely all people has to publicly and declare what they were, but of course it's a really big sports organization."

McKenna signed a new multi-year deal in last year and was questioned about his alleged £5m release clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are provisions," he responded. "I'm unaware what mine are and, were I informed, I wouldn't disclose you regardless!

"I tackle this job like I'll be Town's coach forever. I understand that's not always going to be the case, but I will consistently do my best as while I am here."

The Welsh Coach's Situation

Bellamy represented the Hoops on loan from the Magpies in the mid-2000s, but the ex- Welsh forward is inclined to complete the current global tournament qualification, a stance that would effectively rule out the 46-year-old from immediately taking the Celtic job.

Wales are currently third in their qualifying group behind group toppers the Red Devils and runners-up North Macedonia.

Wins over the minnows and their rivals in next month would secure their place in the qualification play-offs, but they are all but assured of reaching that stage, thanks to a successful Nations League campaign, should they not end up their group second place.

Given his present position, Bellamy, whose agreement expires after the European Championship, would not be available until after the qualifying matches at the minimum.
